Creative Technologist

Ada Kanlıbaş

Barcelona, Spain

I’m a creative technologist with a background in General Engineering — building sensor-driven experiences that blend art, science, and nature.

I work at the intersection of hardware and software. My tools are TouchDesigner, Arduino, custom electronics, Fusion 360, and Resolume. My BEng thesis was a fully integrated health-sensing environment that transforms invisible data — CO, CO₂, PM2.5, temperature, humidity, light, sound — into real-time audiovisual experience.

I don’t treat technology as a means to an end. It’s a storytelling medium. The systems I build are designed to be felt as much as understood — reactive, immersive, and precise.

I’m currently in Barcelona, completing a master’s in Digital Arts & Creative Technology at LaSalle, developing work that pushes further into the intersection of live performance, environmental data, and generative systems.

Practice

My practice spans installation, live performance, and research. I design systems that:

  • sense their environment — air quality, sound, weather, presence
  • process that input in real time — no canned playback, no pre-renders
  • produce output that feels alive — projection, generative visuals, reactive light

The BEng thesis established this as a research direction. The master’s is where it becomes a body of work.

Education

  • MSc Digital Arts & Creative Technology — LaSalle Barcelona (in progress)
  • BEng General Engineering — prior to Barcelona

Background

Born in Turkey, now based in Barcelona. The practice sits somewhere between engineering rigour and artistic instinct — which is exactly where I want it.
