Output
Multi-narrative architectural projection mapping across a kitchen space
Date
February 2024

Overview

This project explores how fragmented yet coherent visuals can transform architectural surfaces into multi-layered narratives within a single physical space. Visuals were mapped across cabinets, walls, and appliances to create zones of storytelling aligned with kitchen function and structure.

Each architectural section received its own visual “thread” — geometry guiding narrative layering.

Approach

The kitchen’s modular divisions functioned as visual containers:

  • Cabinet fronts — discrete looped sequences, each panel its own timeline
  • Backsplash zones — connecting tissue between panels, lower contrast
  • Appliance outlines — geometry used as a frame, not a canvas

Resolume assigned unique visual loops to specific mapped regions. Looped playback sequences minimised hardware stress while maintaining visual continuity across the space.

Some layers featured audio-reactive elements — pulsing based on background sound — creating a subtle liveness even in an otherwise static installation context.

Key Outcomes

  • Assigned discrete content to segmented spatial zones using Resolume
  • Developed a methodology for multi-threaded ambient storytelling
  • Demonstrated proof-of-concept for narrative architecture through projection
